Matching games and memory games are fun and beneficial to both a 3 year old and a 5 year old.

One of the little boys I sit for has a matching game, kind of like Bingo. It's four large sqaures with 9 smaller squares with pictures. Then, he flips over a card, looks at the picture, and matches it. You can get really creative with this game and make it a little more competitive, so it's not too difficult or frustrating for the three year old, but still exciting for the 5 year old.

The game "Memory" is a classic.

hope that helped! :-)
