This is a good product for the price, but little pre-schoolers that can’t read need assistance picking games. All the games are listed out on the screen and only a parent can help them pick a game. So, my daughter lost interest b/c she just can’t use it by herself. Once I pick a game and explain to her what to do, then she enjoys it. So, if you are looking for a learning tool that your kids can do by themselves, this isn’t the one.

got this for my 2.5 year old daughter less than a month ago. Though it says for kids above 3 on the package, with a little PG, she’s able to do most of the activities… Initially i was a little disappointed with the screen, since it’s more activity index and less screen, and the resolution looked BAD. I’d bought it after reading the reviews on Amazon and after receiving it and looking at the screen, i was gonna return it, but then thought i’d give it a try coz my kid was driving me crazy asking for a ‘laptop’, and whaddoyuknow, my daughter lovvves it…. took her time to learn to manoevure the mouse (she was moving it around like a regular mouse), but got the hang of it soon. Thanks to this toy (and another one i bought a few days earlier – the Leap Frog scribble and write), she now is constantly reading stuff out to us – upper and lower case. A really worthwhile investment for your kid…i just wish the background music wasn’t so irritating and the screen were larger, but hey u can’t beat the value for 20-something bucks.

Aside from the following, this beginner laptop has its uses, it no doubt educates but because of the following, this toy can be a parent’s nightmare.
** On the lower right of the “screen” flap, there exists a volume control meant for parents, but it is most used by the child. The loudest setting for the volume is not the issue, but the monkey shreeks that play non-stop to give you an audible example of the volume level. I would expect that when pressing this button, you would hear the monkey shreeks to adjust the volume and then continue on…BUT, when you press the volume button and then the child walks away from the unit, the monkey shreeks continue non-stop until the unit goes into power saver “off” mode after 2-3 minutes. If you can handle this sometimes rude Chinese joke being played on us Americans, you will enjoy this product, however in my home, it may well sit in the closet until my daughter can learn not to just press the “monkey button” and walk away.

I bought the VTech lap top for my 3 yr old and she refuses to put it down. The graphics need updating as I bought one similar 10 years ago for my son and not much has changed. All in all it is a great educational toy for kids and they can spend countless hours doing all the exercises.
