I have a 3 year old boy and I am constantly researching the next best toy. I am not a fan of video games but I thought something educational would be nice and fun for him. I looked at the Leap Frog website and watched the video on the Zippity even before it came out. The videos and the overall write up looked great so I we got it for him for his 3rd Birthday. We got it at Bjs so it did not cost that much, I think it was $65 plus the Cars game was $24. The games that came with the unit were dull and boring. He lost interest after one use. Cars was okay but again, not the most captivating concepts and the graphics were fair at best. When others children come over, they all want to try and they too are bored with this product. We have another child on the way and maybe he would like it when he is younger. My 3 year old is unimpressed, just as my wife and I, are unimpressed with this product. I am actually a fan of Leap Frog and their products but this one, to me, is a waste of money. Maybe they will come out with other games that are better but for now, I think the Wii is a better option. I am a huge fan of consumer reviews and read many before making decisions. I hope this helps others. Good luck with the toy buying process.

I bought the zippity for my 4 year old as a birthday gift and was sorely disappointed with this LeapFrog product. We have loved most of the LeapFrog games, like the Leapster, but this has got to be the worst game/toy I have ever bought. Do not make this mistake - the games are completely boring and I have to help my child use the joystick to start the games. Find any other toy and it will be a vast improvement.

My daughter begged for a Zippity for her 4th birthday. I was concerned that it would not be much of a challenge for her given the age range suggested on the product, but went ahead and got it for her to try. I should have listened to myself...both levels are too easy, and because I bought it on Amazon I cannot return it. So, less than 2 weeks after my daughter's birthday it's packed away. I does have potential, but for a much younger crowd.

My wife and I ordered the Zippity as a present for our 2-year-old and 4-year-old boys. We just recieved it and decided to try it out ourselves before giving it to our boys...and I have to say that we were both very disappointed with the technology. The pace of the games seemed very slow, and the games wouldn't respond to any quick action on the pad (such as fast stepping or hopping). As far as we could tell, the pad's IR transmitter would only send about 1 signal every second or so to the receiver, and there needed to be a pause between actions or else the game wouldn't recognize that we were doing anything on the pad. For example, if we hopped more than once per second on the same spot, the game would register the first hop but none of the subsequent ones...it seemed to think it was just one long hop. There are times when the game would ask us to "keep jumping faster!", but we really needed to jump *slowly* (at less than 1 jump per second) or else the game wouldn't know we were jmuping at all. Our 2 boys love to jump *fast*, so I don't see how they could enjoy following the slow pace of these games. I'm sure that our 2-year-old would enjoy seeing Mickey Mouse on the screen and not care about the pad's unresponsiveness, but it does bother me and my wife that the hardware isn't more sensitive/responsive...it makes the games not feel very interactive. And since it seems to be a hardware limitation, I doubt that additional/future games will be any more responsive than the included ones.

So, unfortunately, right now we're planning to return this without ever giving it to our kids, and we need to find something else that thay may like instead. I wish that there was a more responive alternative that was also educational like the Zippity.
