If you are familiar with the Tag by Leapfrog the Tag Junior is the perfect companion for the younger crowd. My son is almost 3 and enjoys using his Tag junior. I had no trouble downloading the software from Leapfrog's website and getting the audio on the unit. I have even switched out the books numerous times without a hitch. I like that Leapfrog made this toy to fit his hand and to manuever the device just exactly as he naturally wants to. He really enjoys the ABC Orchestra book as well as Curious George to use with it. I just wish Leapfrog would provide more memory to store more books on the device.

I bought this for my 2 year-old son. The most difficult part of setting this up was getting it out of the package and installing the batteries. The batteries fit very tightly which I suppose is a good thing when you're dealing with toddlers or pre-schoolers that might figure out how to open the cover. Otherwise, it was very easy to get the downloads and add the personalization. My son loves books and is very interested in the toy. He giggles every time it says his name! But he is 2 and his attention span and coordination make this difficult for him to operate on his own. He also has a thing for pushing buttons and tends to just turn it on and off if he gets it out on his own. Each time he he gets it out he does get a little better at it but I would say that this is definitely a supervised activity for younger children!

I got this for my son's 3rd birthday. He likes it, but I'm a little disappointed. Yes, it's very exciting that you can program it to say the child's name (for the child, anyway!), and it's always nice to have a toy that means they will sit quietly for a few minutes, but I don't really see the educational value in it. It's basically just a story reader. The extra sounds that they promise in each book are mostly just little musical interludes in my experience. I expected more "where's the green lizard? You found it!" type things to really have them interact with the book. I think the age limit needs to be reduced a bit, because I can't see a 4 year old needing anything like this.

My grandson loves this. He is just shy of two and had to show his Nanny how to use it.

I purchased the Tag Junior from a store 4 days ago and still am unable to use it. I cannot download the audio off the internet despite hours on the computer and emails with customer service. I consider myself computer savy and find this toy to require too much effort on the part of the parent. I would return it except I already discarded the package. If you don't have internet access at home or are not handy with the computer, do not purchase this toy. If you are...I still wouldn't recommend it.
