My 9-month old son has been playing with this toy, exclusively on the Spanish setting, since he was 6 months old. Admittedly, that was too early. The cow’s moo scared him until recently, and he is just now able to press the keys hard enough for them to work. The speaker in the Spanish mode is a man with an Iberian accent; those accustomed to Latin American accents or friendlier (often female) voices might find this off-putting. But my son has no problems with any of this. He loves this toy — in fact, it’s the only one he doesn’t seem to tire of. He drags it and knocks it all over our hardwood floors and it shows no signs of wear. Although I recommend this toy overall, my biggest complaint is that even the quietest of the two volume settings is still very loud.

We bought this for my son’s first Christmas. He was 8 months at the time and is now 2 1/2. He still enjoys playing with it and really likes the Spanish setting. I wouldn’t say he’s learned any Spanish from this toy, but he recognizes the Spanish words that he’s learned at daycare. The voice is a little difficult to understand if you are not a native Spanish speaker, but the games are fun. He likes finding the animals in Spanish and counting. It’s very loud, even on the low volume setting so be prepared for that. We like it, don’t love it. I think $25 would be a fair price for this toy.
